Vacation while on the sick from work? (England)?

hi my mam has been on the sick from work for 7 months now as she has been unwell with a thyriod condition and gyno problems (getting hysterectomy in the summer.) her and my dad want to go away for a week to chill out somewhere abroad. is this alowed? thanks
