Is there any way that I can improve the quality and condition of my Rock Band drums?

Well I can tell that my Rock Band 2 drum-set is near the end of its life. It's falling apart. The pads have absolutely NO bounce anymore and it's ridiculous. In fact, the red pad has a giant bubble now in the middle (I'm uming that's because of excess pressure). Also, the legs are breaking too. The set wobbles continuously. Any ideas of what I can do? I don't have money to spend on a new one. I've heard of all these mods and stuff (like the "sock" mod) but I don't know if that will work or how to do it. Any help is appreciated here.
